Dr. Scott Gunderson, O.D.
Dr. Gunderson grew up in southeast Minnesota as the youngest of six children. Shortly after graduating high school, he fell in love with the scenic beauty of Colorado during a week-long road trip with some friends to Rocky Mountain National Park. He is excited to be here with his wife and four children, as part of this great community.
Dr. Scott Gunderson attended Brigham Young University, where he studied Biology and Business Management. He was awarded the Presidential scholarship - the University's highest undergraduate honor - as well as a scholarship from the prestigious Mayo Clinic. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the UC-Berkeley School of Optometry to pursue his Doctorate of Optometry. While at UCBSO, Dr. Gunderson was actively involved in the student branch of the American Optometric Association (AOA), serving as the Berkeley trustee. He was also the recipient of various awards for leadership and excellence in academics and ophthalmic optics.
As part of his clinical curriculum, Dr. Gunderson received specialty training in co-management of glaucoma, cataract, and corneal surgery at OMNI Eye Services of Atlanta. He also received specialty training in the management of dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma at VA clinics in Albuquerque, NM, and Sacramento, CA. Dr. Gunderson is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Colorado Optometric Association. He opened Clarity Eye Care inside the Thornton Costco in May 2011. Having previously lived in Ecuador for two years, Dr. Gunderson speaks fluent Spanish and loves the opportunity to use it during exams!
